The call for a more tight security on wireless technology is getting stronger. Despite the drastic measures observed by mobile phone operators to keep their customer secure, they should upgrade from time to time. Security researchers have released tools that they say; make it easy to see what security systems operators use to stop eavesdropping or others listening to conversations.

Dr. Karsten Nohl heads this project in order to expose mobile phone operators who have not updated their security system that protects their customers. Since most calls are protected by encryption with huge number of keys it is almost impossible to eavesdrop. As a challenge to mobile phone operators Dr. Nohl have found a way to break the algorithms in minutes-which accordingly algorithms can be broken in 100,000 years. If the operators have installed appropriate software operators can avoid the attack.

Dr. Nohls project does not threaten the mobile phone operators instead he wants to challenge them simply because Mobile technology has been the mainstream of cultures. Going back when GSM was still commonly use, no one has ever thought that its encryption would be broken in fact that was a laughing matter which now came into reality. Customers have the right to make their conversations confidential and it is the responsibility of mobile phone operators to protect it.

Samsung Electronics has announced that they expect a 19% growth on handset shipments, owing to the fact that the demand for mobile phones keeps on growing. The demand for mobile handsets has indeed been remarkable and after shipping 227 million phones in 2009, can you blame Samsung for making such forecasts? Samsung is the world’s second largest mobile phone maker and considering the wide array of phones they have under their wing, sales are expected to flourish. Add to the fact that they continue to unveil new mobile phones for the consumers, seeing numbers triple or maybe even quadruple is practically easy.

Many countries around the world are experiencing rapid economic growth coupled with this growth are alleviated standard of living and industrialization. Alleviated standard of living is a positive result of growth because more people can now access the basic necessities of life like higher income and education. With industrialization, there is a good and a bad side for this. The good part of this is that many people can have a job from the industrial sectors. But the bad part is that the health of the people residing in the industrial centers are compromised. Unlike in the developed world the industrial centers are planned or zoned so that it won’t overlap the residential areas where as in the developing world industrial centers evolved instantly in the residential centers thereby compromising the health of the residents. Carbon gasses and industrial waste are some of the pollutants that are hazardous to the health of the people. According to studies there is an increasing incident of lung cancer, mesothelioma and toxic poisoning in countries China, India and Mexico. The good thing is that these countries are also looking for ways to manage their waste, I just hope it will be successful.

Christmas is days away, it’s the time of fun and gift sharing. So I keep on buying gift items for my younger brothers and sister. For my brothers I bought them mobile phone. I went to Samsung store and bought the E590. It may not be the latest release of Samsung, but it can sure give my brothers’ mobility. It is designed by Jasper Morrison giving it a sleek design. It has 3 Megapixel Camera 262K color TFT Screen, a music player and a MicroSD support. While my brother prefers gadgets my younger sister on the other hand wanted tote bags. I really don’t have any idea of how it looks. So I asked my office mate to give me ideas of what it is. After work we then headed to a well-known store that sells all sorts of bags. I asked a tote bag and the sales person immediately handed me their promotional tote bags. When I learned that these is the design of a tote bag I then asked the sales person to give me Burberry. I completed my Christmas gift list I don’t have to worry about it anymore. Merry Christmas.

Additionally, Google has let us know that those running the Chrome developer beta on Windows can get access to a library of 300 extensions. Yes, extensions in Chrome, can this addition of extensions give Chrome to fuel to steal some more market share from Firefox and Internet Explorer?

According to BBC news Cameroon is the riskiest web domain for 2009 siting that the web addresses for Cameroon end in “.cm”. This will accordingly attract careless we users who wrongly type “.com”. The opportunistic fraudster will then take advantage of the spelling mistakes to set up false sites that look similar to those the surfer intended to visit. McAfee security experts reports that these false sites contains spyware, adware ans malicious downloads instead of the real downloads.

“The bad guys got good at exploiting bad typing skills,” Shane Keats, senior research analyst at McAfee and co-author of the report.

He added that when looking for a host country in which to set up a fraudulent domain, scammers tend to look for three things: “low cost, ease of registration and lack of regulation”.

McAfee surveyed 27 million websites for the report – of which 688,861 were sites hosted by Cameroon. 36.7% were found to be suspicious.

A company by the name of Hybra Advance Technology is looking to hype up their forthcoming Orb headset by giving us some press images of the device.

Pictured above is what the Orb looks like when it’s ready for action and in its closed state appearing to be nothing more than a ring. This is an interesting design, especially for those who can’t seem to keep track of their Bluetooth headsets. Additionally the Orb will reportedly feature a deluxe edition with a Flexible OLED display perfect for displaying caller IDs and other noticies you would want to see without wipping out your handset.

Hybra Advance Technology’s Orb Bluetooth headset is slated for a January 2010 release at an estimate $129. The Flexible OLED display touting deluxe edition, on the other hand, is slated for an April 2010 release at an estimated $175.
