Treating hard water at home
Water resources is getting scarce nowadays, some water aquifers are affected by pollution due to down welling of pollutants from the ground to the water table. Some sources like creeks or river are also being affected by pollutants coming from the industrial zones. In some areas like in the mountain areas water is not a problem, water sources there are available. Water come from glaciers formed during cold seasons. The only problem when using untreated water is that it does not lather with soap because of its reaction to the minerals in it. Pales or other metal canisters usually corrode when used with hard water. People in these areas use water softener instead in other to take away the minerals in the untreated water. In effect soft water can reduce the formation of precipitate in utensils, reduce detergent usage. With this advent in water treatment water in mountain areas can now be utilized. Hopefully water resources will be replenished so that it can support the ever increasing population, who use water.
